Wishcasting Wednesday--Less

This is a long list!  Jamie asks, "What do you wish for less of?"

Worry.  Stress.  Anxiety.  Uncertainty.

They're really messing with me, and this has been a long-term issue. The other day, I wrote in my brain dump journal "I have a worry habit."  I do.  I worry about things that might happen.  I'm constantly stressed and anxious and feeling scared and uncertain about what *might* happen.  Not even real things!  I know they aren't real things, I know they might not actually happen.  Most of the time, they don't.  And yet I can't seem to calm down and stop being worried and scared.

Enough, I say!  I want less of these things that drain my energy and immobilize me and keep me from doing things I want to do. Enough!  I am done with you.  Get out of here right now!

Now we'll see how that works out.  I am quite completely open to any ideas and techniques you guys have for getting rid of this habit.  If you have ideas, please let me know!

When worry overwhelms me I try to repeat my mantra "All is well" until I feel calm.

As Kim wishes for herself, I wish for her as well. I also worry alot but I have found what helps me the most is to ask myself, "What do I know for sure?" and only think about or worry about what I actually know. When I do this I realize most of my fears or worries are unfounded. I cannot tell how doing this simple thing has helped.

Kim, I'm totally with you on this--I almost blogged about worry today, but decided to ask for wishes for my back pain (thanks for your kind comments).
I learned to worry from my Mom, and have been trying to unlearn it all my adult life. I've been somewhat successful in stepping back and observing how the worry comes on, acknowledge it, and let it pass. It also helps me to envision the very worst scenario and realize that I could even deal with that if necessary. We just have to trust that things will work out and we don't always have control. Good luck! As Kim wishes for herself, I wish for her also.

what works best for me is to get physical. for me that's walking, biking, stretching, deep breathing. i need something in an entirely different realm (physical vs. mental) so it's not something i can multi-task while i keep worry simmering on the back burner (if that makes sense). as you wish for yourself, i wish for you also.

Gosh... worries are like worms eating an apple (sorry for the image): a little bit of the soul taken each time a worry shows up.
But I am SURE you'll figure out how to worry less. Trust is the answer, trust is hard to keep but once it's there wooooohoooo it changes everything.

Me too! I have been doing alternate nostril breathing to try and help!

I'm having a bit of an anxiety and worry issue as well - it seems to be running rampant. I try to remind myself that my worst case scenario is nowhere near as bad as everyday life for millions of people around the world. Of course, that sometimes just adds guilt on top of the stress, but sometimes it helps.

As Kim wishes for herself, so I also wish for her.

I also have a worry habit. And this was my wish as well.

We could have written for each other! Worry seems to invade so easily lately and I am tired of it!

Let's try to focus on the present more.
Take care.

I think some major worry set me off today into a spiral of negative thinking. So yes, less worry here too please.

Me, too! Me, too! Worrying eats away at me. I know it's not productive, but there's a little radio station inside me that broadcasts worry and anxiety 24/7 and I can't shut it off or drown it out very well.

As you wish for yourself, I wish for you also.

Kim, I can truly relate to your wish. How much of my precious life have I lost agonizing and fretting over some imaginary demon in my head?
I am learning to breathe and trust but its an uphill battle sometimes. As you wis for yourself so I wish for you also

The worry habit is something I've suffered from my entire life. Meditation does help. And a God Box. As Kim wishes for herself, I wish for her also!

Nicole, what's a God box? Thanks! Wendi

I can relate to this - I also worry all the time about things that might happen. It can really eat you up! Unfortunately, I don't have any recipe how to stop worrying...

I try to remind myself that a given situation "is what it is" and that I probably can't change it. I certainly can't change it by worrying about it.

As Kim wishes for herself, so do I wish for her also!

This issues haunt me periodically, too. Taking the time for two short meditation periods each day (one upon waking, one before bed) has helped me a lot recently, along with reminding myself that these things are not necessarily the truth, that they're like the mental equivalent of weather, in that they pass (provided we let them, of course). I hope you have less of them. ((Hugs))
