Wishcasting Wednesday--Beginning

What do you wish to begin?  That's the Wishcasting question this week.  I have no idea how Jamie comes up with these wonderful questions, but every week I find something in her queries that I really needed to be thinking about but either didn't know it or didn't make the time for.

I wish to begin walking the path to the life I want.  Right now, that means I want to begin a regular writing practice.  I've been focusing so much on doing things related to my creativity coaching business that I've been neglecting one of my deepest desires--to be a writer.  So, I need to find a way to incorporate my personal creative dreams with my business dreams.  And I'm going to begin that by going back to a regular writing practice.

On a related note, I want to begin the habit of regularly using my planner.  I think, among other things, it would help me with that regular writing practice.  And it hearkens back to the days when I always had a special, thick notebook I carried around with me where I kept notes and quotes and poems and ideas and writing snippets and dates.  And in those days, I was writing a lot.  So I want to pull this in to my new beginnings, too.

Setting aside the time to do the things we want has to be a priority or they don't happen. I like your idea of carrying the notebook. I think I'll start that today. As Kim wishes for herself, I wish for her also.

Creating a writing practice can be tricky. It eludes me, too. As Kim wishes for herself, so I wish for her also.

I wish you much inspiration, focus, motivation, and tons of creative spark for your writing.

I used to carry around a black and white composition book and jot down stuff all day in it. What a good idea to begin again...

As you wish for yourself, so I wish for you also.

Hi Kim! I was a little late today in getting to my wishcasting, but I finally tossed mine in. I love the picture you choose and hope you continue walking that path to getting back to your writing. My planner lays piled under piles of papers and threatens to just plain stop existing at this point ;) So you wish Kim, I wish for you also.

I had fallen out of the habit of carrying a notebook or planner with me too. Thanks for the reminder.

As Kim wishes for herself, I wish for her as well. I carry a small notebook with me and it really has helped. The other thing I found that keeps me writing (although not as much as I would like) is to meet weekly with a small group of women who also write. We share what we have written and definitely encourage each other a great deal. It sometimes seems like work to keep the group together but it has been worth the effort.

That just sounds fantastic, Kim! I love writing. I was just talking with a friend yesterday about writing and realizing that I really love it too. Blogging is a great way to get your writing out there and keep it fresh!

I am an aspiring writer, so I really related to your wish. Why do we have to find space for the things we love?

I've struggled with creating a consistent writing practice so I'm wishing for this along with you.

I agree with many others here that keeping a notebook with you and meeting up with other writers are helpful ideas. If you're interested in women's writing, I'd recommend becoming a member of the Story Circle Network (http://storycircle.org). You can receive great writing prompts and be part of a supportive online group of writers. Just a thought. :)

As Kim wishes for herself, so do I wish for her also!
