Summertime and the Writin' Is Easy

Maybe not easy.  At least not all the time.  The important part is that I make it happen!  I try various things off and on to get and keep myself going, but my efforts seem to be pretty haphazard most of the time, and I want to change that.

This summer, I'm joining in on SuWriMo (Summer Writing Months).  Laura E. Bradford wrote about it in this post that I ran across last week.  I'm going to be participating on Twitter (#suwrimo), but I'm also going to do some posting here about this.

I'm going to work on Ordinary Girl, a novel I started for NaNoWriMo several years ago but didn't complete. I'm going to be re-starting the novel but including a lot of the scenes I wrote originally.  I'm just going to rewrite them to make them better.

This is what I plan to do this summer (June 1-August 31):
  • Complete a story plan--this is a light outline that's mostly just the major plot points and notes on a few scenes I've thought up that I really want to include
  • Write at least 30,000 words
  • Work out a reasonable time schedule for completion of the first draft
I'll be posting  regularly and updating my word counter here on the blog (over there on the right-->).  Feel free to poke at me if you don't see me posting any word counts--I'll take all the encouragement I can get.

Now, on to that story plan...
